SHATTERED: An Open Heart Novel Book 2

Healing a battered heart will risk her last link to humanity

Mishca needs to save her sisters, but only Ryder can save her.

The truth about Mishca’s past shattered her heart. She deals with the pain by focusing on a new mission: saving her newfound family from their creator. With her sisters scheduled for termination, Mishca and her friends set out on a journey up the North Queensland Coast to save them before someone else dies.

Ryder understands the need driving Mischa. It’s in her DNA. But he’s not giving up on the chance they can still be together. She’s the only one to have seen him levitate. The only one to watch the sparks dance across his skin. The only one he trusts enough to know what is in his heart. And now, he might be the only one who can stop Mishca from losing her humanity.

Driven apart by secrets, will they come together in time?

divedpricedropIn preparation for the release of SHATTERED: An Open Heart Novel Book 2, you can grab DIVIDED: An Open Heart Novel Book 1 for only 99c!

A new heart should mean new life, instead it’s a living nightmare.

Mishca Richardson’s life is at an all-time high after her heart transplant. With new boyfriend, Ryder, she has the perfect summer romance. Even the nightmares plaguing her sleep since her operation can’t dull her new dream world.

Yet, life starts to unravel when Mishca develops superhuman abilities. She does her best to hide them so as not to end up a science experiment in a lab, but she can’t ignore the strange instant attraction she experiences when she meets her university professor, Colin Read.

Torn between love and obsession, Mishca must unite her divided heart and decide between the two men. But when the truth about her weird powers comes to light, she’ll have a lot more to worry about than romance.

Literary Love for Louisiana with J.P. Sloan

untitled-copy

My friend Em Shotwell and I decided to put on a charity auction called Literary Love for Louisiana to help raise funds for the flood victims there. We had so many fantastic authors,  editors and publishers donate critiques, coaching sessions and books. J.P. Sloan had a very special reason for donating.

1) What made you decide to donate to Literary Love for Louisiana Charity Auction?

I had a very personal reason for donating to the Louisiana Charity Auction…Baton Rouge is my hometown. I was born there, grew up there, went to college there…spent the first 18 years of my life in Baton Rouge before embarking on the adventure of adulthood. When the news reached me of this auction, I jumped on board immediately, since I’m so far away from Louisiana now, and so few this far out are even aware of the magnitude of damage down there.

2) What was it like seeing the place you grew up, and where family members still live, swamped by water?

Absolutely surreal. I’m no stranger to flooding, nor is Southern Louisiana. The rivers that swelled to inundate the region are all notorious for limited flooding, but never on this scale. So many houses that were overtaken weren’t in established “flood zones”, and thus had no flood insurance. Nor am I a stranger to massive weather-related disasters. I was a resident of New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina made landfall in 2002, and my family rode out the storm in Baton Rouge, which was on higher ground and generally considered a safer locale. But the videos of the widespread water in the Baton Rouge and Denham Springs areas, with bass boats criss-crossing the streets I used to ride my bike on? Harrowing.

3) What drives you as a writer?

Hmm…how do I say “a pathological need for attention” without sounding overly histrionic? Mostly I want to entertain, to transport people into new worlds, to immerse them into an experience in such a way that the real world fades away entirely. Any time I score an emotional reaction from a reader, I fist-pump.

4) Tell us about your current stories/what you have coming up soon?

My latest release is a horror/western, YEA THOUGH I WALK. It’s a cranial, moody paranormal thriller in the Old West pitting vampires versus wendigo. In December, THE CURSE MANDATE, Book 3 of the Dark Choir series will be released upon the world, and I’ve just wrapped edits on Book 4, “The Dark Interest”. My immediate plans are to finish the six book Dark Choir series before embarking on a new super-setting.

J.P. Sloan is a speculative fiction author … primarily of urban fantasy, horror and several shades between. His writing explores the strangeness in that which is familiar, at times stretching the limits of the human experience, or only hinting at the monsters lurking under your bed.

A Louisiana native, Sloan relocated to the vineyards and cow pastures of Central Maryland after Hurricane Katrina, where he lives with his wife and son. During the day he commutes to the city of Baltimore, a setting which inspires much of his writing.

In his spare time, Sloan enjoys wine-making and homebrewing, and is a certified beer judge.

About the Book:

Robin of Lockesly was neither the son her father wanted, nor the daughter her mother expected. When she refuses an arranged marriage to a harsh and cruel knight, the deadly events that follow change her destiny forever. After a night of tragedy, Robin and the few remaining survivors flee to Nottingham. With a newfound anonymity, they start to live different lives. There, she and her band make mischief, robbing from the rich and giving to the poor. But charity isn’t the only thing she wants—she wants revenge. As the sheriff draws his net closer, Robin’s choices begin to haunt her. She’ll have to choose between what’s lawful and what her conscience believes is right—all while staying one step ahead of the hangman.

LADY OF SHERWOOD is a YA retelling of of the legendary Robin Hood, and set to be released from Clean Teen Publishing in April 2017.
